If you have decided that your true calling lies in becoming a personal trainer, you might want to know more about the entire process of getting the required qualifications and also about what to expect from the courses. This article throws light on various aspects associated with training to be a personal trainer and familiarises you with all that it entails.

The very first step

Application: All you need to do is to fill in our ‘contact us’ form or, should you need more information, you could email us on info@lovefitnesseducation.co.uk. Please do remember to leave your contact details so that our tutors will get in touch with you, to give personalised guidance about the course that would best suit your needs.

You will then receive an application form which you would be required to fill promptly in order to ensure you a place in the course of your choice. A deposit of £250 is needed to reserve your place and you would need to make the full payment 14 days before the course start date (except in case of CPD courses which need to be paid in full at the time of application)

Once we get the confirmation of your booking, we will send you an invoice acknowledging your payment and a welcome pack containing all the relevant information pertaining to your course. You will also receive a recommended reading list prior to the start date and all the learning materials will be provided to you on the first day of your course. With that you will commence your journey towards a promising career as you will find yourself in expert hands, committed to giving you the highest standards of training.

What are the courses offered and what do they cover?

Level 2 Certificate in Personal Training: This course prepares you for the entry level fitness instructor qualification, imparting the skills and knowledge to conduct safe exercise sessions and design basic workout programmes. On successful completion of this course, you would be qualified to work as a fitness instructor in gyms in UK and abroad.

Eligibility: You do not need any previous qualifications for this course. If you are 16 years of age and possess reasonable reading, writing and numeracy skills, you are eligible to acquire Level 2 Certificate in Personal Training.

Duration: We deliver this course full time over a period of 2 weeks including assessments. Timings – 9am – 4:30 pm Monday to Friday and part time through our distance learning package over 2 months.

The course syllabus covers topics like:-

  • Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise
  • Health Safety and Welfare in a Fitness Environment
  • Principles of Exercise Fitness and Health
  • Know how to Support Clients who take part in Exercise and Physical Activity
  • Planning Gym-Based Exercise
  • Instructing Gym-Based Exercise

Additional Topics that we cover at Love Fitness Education

We go above an beyond standard syllabi and add the following topics to our Level 2 course:

  • Primal Patterns and Session Design
  • The Bridging Model & Client Consultations
  • Analysing Movement Patterns and identifying imbalances

Acquiring this basic qualification makes you eligible to progress to Level 3 PT qualification and to opt for CPD courses that you need to take to retain membership on the REPs register.

So What’s Next?

Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training: This course authorises you to work as a personal trainer and gives you in depth and latest knowledge of physiology related exercise and hones the skills needed for a career in Personal Training.

Eligibility: A level 2 or equivalent qualification is required before you can take up this course. You also need to be a minimum of 16 years of age and possess reasonable reading, writing and numeracy skills.

Duration: We offer this course full time delivered over a period of 4 weeks including assessments. Timings – 9am – 4:30 pm Monday to Friday and Part time delivered over 5 months using our distance learning package.

The course covers topics like:-

  • Anatomy and Physiology for Exercise
  • Fitness Testing – including Postural Analysis, Health Assessments, Body Composition, Cardiovascular Fitness and Muscular Fitness
  • Client Consultation Skills
  • Programme Design and Periodisation
  • Motor Skills Training
  • Core Stability Workshop
  • Advanced Training Techniques
  • Applying the Principles of Nutrition
  • Delivering Personal Training

Additional Topics that we cover at Love Fitness Education

  • Self Myofascial Release Techniques
  • In depth postural analysis and movement screening
  • Muscle Activation and Corrective Exercise Techniques

A level 3 Certification in Personal Training will entitle you to work as a Personal Trainer and also include you in REPs list of certified instructors. From here, you could progress to specialist Level 4 qualifications and add some CPD courses to your repertoire. As part of the Full Time and Part Time advanced diploma packages we offer 2 CPD courses – Kettlebell Instructor and Social Media Business & Marketing for Personal Trainers.

What are CPD Courses?

CPD (Continued Professional Development) are short courses that give you an opportunity for professional up gradation and add to your employability. You would need to attend these in order to maintain your membership on the REPs register.

The CPDs that we offer include – Kettlebells, Olympic Weight Lifting and Business and Marketing with eSocial Media. The duration of these courses is about 12 hours spread over 1.5 to 2 days

Part time Personal Training Course: This course is specially designed for those who desire to complete their qualification while continuing to work in their current job and study on the weekends. As it is on a part time basis, it is delivered on one weekend every month over a period of 7 months. The time in between gives learners the opportunity to study at their own pace using our online platform during which time, our tutors are available on phone or skype, should you require any guidance.
